ChopSaver Review

lip balm for men

I’ve been wanting to write this ChopSaver Review for a while, but since I wanted to push my youtube tutorials first, I decided to postpone this post until today. Anyways, just a quick background story, I received a sample of the Chopsaver a few days after New Year, and since the weather has been getting colder, my lips have been pretty dry and chappy lately. I’m quite picky with lip products since I have quite sensitive lips. I’ve tried several lip balms but I just didn’t like how some of them feel too goey/sticky on my lips, while some are just simply not moisturizing enough.

Eve Pearl Swatches

Happy Weekend, everyone! As promised on my Instagram account, here’s all my Eve Pearl swatches and first impression post. I received this PR package from Eve Pearl last week, and in this package I received 1 Bronzing Highlighter Trio, 1 fan brush, and 2 lip glosses.

I saw Eve Pearl used the bronzing highlighter trio and fan brush at the IMATS Toronto 2015, and was eyeing for it but didn’t end up buying it, so it was really great to actually receive it as part of the PR package. The fan brush is so soft and fluffy! I love this brush for bronzer, blush, and highlighter. Absolutely love it, it’s like THE brush for powder bronzer/blush/highlighter.

Eve Pearl blush trio

The Eve Pearl Bronzing Highlighter Trio is meant to be used all at the same time. They way Eve Pearl uses it is by using the fan brush and swipe the brush left-right, which will pick up all the 3 products at the same time. The bronzer is very warm, the blush looks very similar to NARS Orgasm, while the highlighter is so pretty. These 3 products are very warm and since it has a lot of shimmers, it gives a very glowy look to the skin.

The bronzer is very warm, worn by itself it gives a very nice tan look on the skin. Please do not use this bronzer to contour your face, it’s very orange, it does not look good as a contouring product. The blush is a coral pink blush with gold shimmers, it’s so pretty! The highlighter is a very pale champagne color with gold shimmers.

You can wear these products on its own, and they’ll look pretty, but together they just give the most beautiful color and glow to the cheeks!
Eve Pearl Blush Trio

The lipglosses are called “Kisses of Pearl”, and they are infused with Aloe and Vit. E. I love how hydrating these lip glosses are. The shades that I received are Stardust and Peach Champagne. The Stardust lip gloss is a brown-gold, while the Peach Champagne is a soft peach. I love Peach Champagne! It’s a color that I’ll probably use quite often. The Stardust, I’m not so sure how I’ll pair this color with. This shade is definitely out of my comfort zone.

All in all, the products are of high quality, very pigmented and definitely a must try! If you are interested in purchasing these, please check out Eve Pearl website for more info.

THEFACESHOP Canada (Product Reviews)

As you know, I recently received a few great products from THEFACESHOP Canada. If you have not checked out my post using these products, please check out my Lavender Glitter Party Makeup tutorial! It’s easy, fun, and definitely eye catching!

Have you tried any THEFACESHOP products? If you have, what’s your favorite product from this brand? If you haven’t, which product would you like to try? Leave your answer below on the comment section.

So, as part of the Canadian Beauty Bloggers network, I was selected to give THEFACESHOP Canada products a try. Big shout out to Canadian Beauty Bloggers, as well as THEFACESHOP Canada! I received these 5 products in the mail  (L-R) – Freshian Big Mascara,  Candy Violet blush, Lavender Glitter eyeshadow, Purple Violet Color Proof eyeliner, and Pink Scarf Rose Ink Lipquid. Keep on reading below to find out the swatches, as well as my review on these products!

THEFACESHOP Canada                                                                                      THEFACESHOP Canada

Let’s start with THEFACESHOP Canada Freshian Big Mascara (01 Curling). The Freshian Big mascara is described as  “Mascara that provides natural eyelash looks. Curling & volume effects are well seen!”. There’s actually a Volume version of this mascara, the one that I received is the Curling effect. I actually quite like the wand on this mascara, it’s thin and I can get the bristles right in between my lashes. The formula is not too runny, and it does not dry out too quick either.

THEFACESHOP Canada

THEFACESHOP Canada Freshian Big Mascara (01 Curling)

In the “before” picture below (top row), you can see that my lashes are stick-straight and long. I have to curl my lashes before I apply the mascara (middle row). As you can see in the “after” picture (bottom row), my lashes lost some of its curls but gain extra length. The mascara itself does not cause my lashes to clump, it separates the lashes pretty well. The reason why this mascara does not keep the curls of my lashes is because it does not dry quick enough. If you’re looking for a curling mascara, you should look for one that is waterproof since waterproof mascara dries out faster when you apply it, which then would help to lock the curls in place. This mascara is NOT waterproof, and so it does not hold the curls very well. It is still better than other non-waterproof mascara though in terms of holding the curls.

THEFACESHOP Freshian Big Mascara

THEFACESHOP Canada also sent me a Candy Violet blush! Prior to this, I did not own a violet blush. This was my first time using a purple-toned blush. I know it looks quite pink in the picture, but it is actually a light purple if compared to other pink/rosy blushes. It is a very pale cool tone blush, so I wasn’t quite sure how this would show up on my skin.

The blush, since it’s purple, is really great to brighten your skin. As you know, purple/violet works as a brightening corrector. So, this blush does a good job to brighten up your skin. It has a little bit of shimmer, and it works well as a highlighter. The downside to this blush is the fact that it’s too light for my skin. I can’t really use this as a blush on its own, so I use it as a highlighter or a brightener on top of my other blush. I also can use this blush to change the “warmness” of my other blushes. For example, if I think my other blush is too warm-toned, I can apply this blush first then the warmer blush on top to make it more cool-toned or neutral.

One of my favorite products from this package is this stunning sparkly purple eyeshadow! THEFACESHOP Lavender Glitter eyeshadow is described as “Highly pigmented Single Shadow Glitter gives a uniform and ultra shiny finish. Its silky, easy-to-adjust texture applies easily and adheres without smudging, for long-lasting hold.”

Oh, this gorgeous eyeshadow is amazing! Just enough glitters and there was no fallout at all! Glitter eyeshadows are notorious for their fallout, where the glitters will be everywhere EXCEPT in your eyelids where you want it to be! Not this eyeshadow! The glitters in the eyeshadow stay on the eyelids. You can also apply this eyeshadow with a wet brush, and it’ll make the shade even more purple and sparklier. Don’t believe me? Check out my Lavender Glitter Party makeup tutorial to see the eyeshadow in action.

My other favorite product from THEFACESHOP Canada PR Package is this Purple Violet Color Proof eyeliner. I wish the eyeliner is slightly more purple, but as you can see from my swatch, it’s actually pretty dark in color. On my tutorial, you can see that it looks almost black. However, I don’t really mind it. It almost looks like a soft black eyeliner, which will be a great alternative for those who prefer a non-black eyeliner. Sometimes a black eyeliner can look too harsh on those with fair-light skin tones. The hint of violet in this eyeliner will bring out the colors on your eyes. Purple is universally flattering on everyone and every eye colors!

THEFACESHOP CanadaTHEFACESHOP Color Proof Purple Violet eyeliner

The last product in my package is THEFACESHOP Pink Scarf Rose Ink lipquid. It’s a liquid lipstick, hence the name lipquid. It is described as ” [An] all-in-one lipstick, gloss, and tint comes in 12 shades and provides hydration and hold for up to 12 hours! The specially shaped applicator helps both define lip contours and fill in the lips. Using the chisel tip, you can define and color your lips with great precision.”

This lipquid is similar to a lip stain. It stains your lips with a pretty color, and you can layer it to make the color more intense. Since it is a stain, it lasts pretty long even after eating and drinking. When I did the swatch for this lipquid, my hand was stained for the whole day.

I love this lipquid, it’s not sticky or drying like other brands, and it’s also moisturizing. This shade Pink Rose Scarf is a beautiful shade of rosy pink, which is very flattering on everyone. One tip on using this lipquid is to apply it in layers. When you apply it in layers, apply it sparingly to control the intensity of the stain. On my previous tutorial, I applied a sheer layer on my lips, then I added more layers just in the center of my lips to create a gradient effect.

Shu Uemura Sheer Shine Lipsticks

Last month, I was chosen to be one of the 20 beauty bloggers to try out Shu Uemura Sheer Shine lipsticks! I was thrilled to receive 3 of the Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Sheer Shine lipsticks at my door step. I’m sure you all have seen these 3 gorgeous lipsticks on my Instagram. I absolutely love these lipsticks!

Shu Uemura Sheer Shine lipsticks

So, the 3 shades that I received are RD 164 (red), PK 366 (pink), CR 350 (peach). I can’t really pick a favorite because I love them all equally! They are very vibrant, and you can layer it. If you are not used to wearing bright colored lipsticks, you should definitely give this a try. This way, you can apply it sheer at first then build it to a more opaque finish once you get used to the color, especially if you want to try the red lipstick.

The best part, for me, is the fact that these Sheer Shine lipsticks are very moisturizing, and it has a “glass-like” finish, similar to a gloss but without the stickiness. Actually the shine on these lipsticks are amazing! It’s definitely better than a gloss! If you apply the Sheer Shine lipsticks with a lip brush (I recommend the Shu Uemura lip brush), you can actually create a stain on your lips.

These lipsticks are very pigmented, don’t let the name “Sheer” fools you! So vibrant, high shine and very colorful! On top of that, this product is just like butter. Very smooth and you can apply this very easily to the lips.

L’oreal Colour Riche Moist Matte in Lincoln Rose

I was watching Kat Von D video tutorial on Sephora’s youtube channel, and I absolutely love how she created the ombre dotted eyeliner, similar to pointilism. I think it’s a pretty cool way to get creative with your eyeliner while keeping it simple. You can pair this dotted eyeliner with a rich-colored lips, like the L‘oreal Colour Riche Moist Matte in Lincoln Rose to brighten up your look.

As promised on my L’oreal Colour Riche Moist Matte swatches, I wanted to show you guys how the lipsticks look on my skin. This time I played around with Lincoln Rose, but I’ll try to work on the other shade next time. I’m quite surprise at how bright the lipstick shade is on my lips. I did not line my lips at all for this tutorial since I want to see how the real color is against my skintone. I think if you have a medium or dark complexion, this would work really well on you. I personally find this shade to be a little bit overpowering.

The shade itself is a very interesting red. It does have quite a warm undertone to it. I think it’s a very pretty shade for summer, or for us in the Tropics where everyday is pretty much summer. Very warm, bright, and tropical. I applies very smoothly on the lips. Although it is a “matte” line, it doesn’t dry out your lips like some other brands “matte” lipsticks are. It is still creamy, while the finish is matte. Overall, I think the L’oreal Colour Riche Matte line is worth a try. I definitely am going to look for another one or two the next time I go to the mall!

how-to dotted winged liner

How-to:

1. I applied a nude eyeshadow on my eyelid, all the way to the brow bone using a flat eyeshadow brush. For this look, I used Entomology from Kat Von D Monarch palette.

2. On the crease, I applied Vanish from Kat Von D monarch palette, using a clean fluffy blending brush.

3. I placed a tape on where I want my “wings” to be as my eyeliner. You can skip this step if you have steady hand.

4. Using Kat Von D Trooper tattoo ink eyeliner, I started drawing a solid line from the inner corner to the middle of my lash line.

5. Then, using the tip of the eyeliner, I started drawing dots from the middle to the end-tip of the eyeliner. I placed more dots on the middle, and it gets more spaced out as it approaches the end of the wing.

6. I ran Vanish slightly on the lower lash line using an angled eyeliner brush.

7. I curled my lashes and applied MUFE Aqua Smoky Lash mascara on both upper and lower lashes.

8. On my brows, I filled it in using Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Ash.

L'oreal Colour Riche Matte Rose Bud

9. On my face, I applied Giorgio Armani Maestro foundation.

10. I applied Smashbox Halo blush in In Bloom.

11. On my lips, I applied L’oreal Colour Riche Matte in Lincoln Rose.

L’oreal Color Riche Moist Matte Swatches

Hello everyone! Sorry for being absent for a while. I’ve been swamped with work! Anyhow, I hope you guys are following me on Instagram so you can check what is up with me daily. Anyways, couple weeks a go I received a package of lipstick, and I wanted to share this L’oreal Paris Color Riche Moist Matte swatches and first impression with you! A huge thanks to Hani for the lovely package. I do apologize for not putting this post up any sooner.

Anyways, let’s get on it! So, I received 2 lipsticks – Rose Bud and Lincoln Rose. I’m not sure if you know, but I’m a huge fan of L’oreal Paris products. I’ve tried their foundation, eyeshadows, lipgloss, lipstick, hair products etc. I’m always impressed with their products, especially when I was living in Canada just because it is such a high quality, pigmented products yet so affordable. In Indonesia, L’oreal products are still quite pricy compared to its North American counterparts.

L'oreal Rose Bud matte L'oreal Paris Color Riche Moist Matte Rose Bud

I have high expectations from these 2 lipsticks since I do own several L’oreal Paris lip products – colour riche extraordinaire, infallible lip liner, and colour caresse shine stain, and I absolutely love them! So, huge expectations!

Firstly, I was a bit surprised at the color of Rose Bud. I’m not a fan of plum, especially when it’s so purple (as you can see from the photo above)! It has a lot of cool undertone, and I have yet to find a way to work this into my makeup look just yet. However, when I do, I’ll for sure post it up! First impression of this shade is somewhat disappointed with the color, just because I don’t know how to approach it yet. Nevertheless, I shall step out of my comfort zone and make it work!

L'oreal Paris Color Riche Moist Matte Lincoln Rose

Now, the second shade, which is Lincoln Rose, is much more workable. I guess this shade was inspired by the flower itself, Rosa Mister Lincoln. Beautiful red shade, very vibrant. It has a warm undertone,  and I can’t wait to try this shade on! I’ve been wearing lots of red and pink lipsticks lately since for some reason I’ve been having allergic reaction in Jakarta. My eyes get watery, so I try to avoid wearing much makeup on my eyes.

Anyways, I hope this post helps! I think I might go grab a few more shades myself, since this collection looks very promising. I love matte lipstick, and I adore matte lipstick with moisturizing action! It has jojoba oil, so those who suffer dry lips like me will rejoice! Moist lips for the win!

Product of the Week: Revlon Black Cherry

As you might have seen in my previous post and twitter, I have been raving about a specific lipstick called Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry (477). I do like this lipstick a lot!

What is Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick?

82 SHADES in 4 FABULOUS FINISHES

Infused with mega-moisturizers to seal in color and softness. Find your lip color amongst a dazzling array of 82 shade in 4 fabulous finishes of Matte, Pearl, Crème and Shine.

Revlon USA, 2013

I actually owned several shades from this series, but the one that’s making an appearance today is one of my favorite fall lipstick – Black Cherry. It is a nice, rich, deep burgundy shade. The finish is Creme.

I love this shade, it works really well for everyone. If you have fair to light skintone, you might find this shade to be a little bit too dark. However, you can modify it by applying it as a stain, or mix it with a clear lip balm to add color into your lips. This will look really great for medium to dark skintone.

I’ve worn this lipstick with lipliner underneath it for a good 3-hour before lunch. After lunch, I had to re-apply it slightly. The lipstick seems to last longerr even after dinner when I wore it with the MUFE Aqua Lip Liner. If you want to see how I apply my lipsticks, please check my previous post.

I bought this lipstick back when I was in Canada. I bought it at Rexall when it was on sale. I believe it was only around cad$ 5-ish. I’m not sure how much it is in Indonesia.

revlon black cherry review

Pros:

  • Very rich, deep burgundy shade that works well for every skin tone.
  • Moisturizing on the lips, doesn’t feel dry.
  • Creamy finish, with a satin feel.
  • Can be layered – use it sheer as lip stain, or apply it with brush for a full-on look.
  • Affordable.

Cons:

  • Lipstick might not last long, depending on the lip liner you use underneath.
  • Might have to layer it several times to get the right intensity.
  • Will stick to dry skin.

MAC Russian Red

As you all know from my Twitter, I’ve been looking forward to use my M.A.C Russian Red lipstick again. I know, I know, it seems like this week is a MAC week. Well, can’t be helped, I’m trying to fall in love with MAC again! Afterall, MAC was one of the reasons why I went into makeup in the first place.

So, talking about MAC Russian Red, this is the best true-red lipstick. If you want a cooler red, you can try MAC Ruby Woo instead. I also love how this lipstick has a matte finish to it. I’m not a big fan of shiny or glossy lips, so I love how even though this lipstick has a matte finish, it is not drying. It also helps if you prep your lips before application to ensure your lips aren’t chapped.

I purchased this Chanel quads in Intuition in February and didn’t have the chance to play with it, so I had to use it for this look. I love how soft and pretty the eyes look. If you are looking for a neutral, day makeup, do try the eye-look and you can skip the red lipstick.

I’ve done a similar look in Battle of the Classics.

How-to:

1. Using a flat eyeshadow brush, I applied the gold eyeshadow from the Chanel Intuition quad.

2. Using a fluffy blending brush, I applied the deep brown shade from the same quad on my  outer V and on the crease. I used whatever was left on the brush and swept it along the lower lash line.

3. I blended out the crease using a clean fluffy brush.

4. Using an angled eyeliner brush, I created a winged liner along the upper lashline.

5. I applied MAC Chromagraphic liner in NC30 on my tightline.

6. Using a small flat shader brush, I applied the pink highlighter shade from Chanel Intuition quad on the inner corner of the lower lid and under the brow.

7. I curled my lashes and applied Maybelline Volume Express mascara on both upper and lower lashes.

8. I filled my brows in using MUFE Aqua Brow Gel.

9. For extra drama, I applied Quo false eyelashes.

10.  For the face, I applied MUFE HD Foundation using a foundation brush.

11. Using whatever was left on the brush, I swept it across my lips.

12. I lined and filled my lips using MAC Redd lip pencil.

13. Using a lip brush, I applied MAC Russian Red on my lips.

14. I powdered my face using a loose translucent powder.

15. I contoured my face using MAC Shadowy and applied MAC Fleur Power on the cheeks as blush.
