Holiday Party Makeup #2

Merry Christmas (eve), everyone! I wanted to do a dark lips look for this Holiday Party Makeup tutorial for a while, but I also included an option to go for a light lips for those who prefer a peachy/nude lips. For the eyes, you can always opt for a simpler look, but I wanted to create some more drama so I ended up using my Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette to create a brown/bronze smoky eyes.

If you noticed, I wore contacts on this tutorial. I might wear it on the next tutorial as well. It’s just for fun, I asked on my Instagram if wearing colored contacts is a yay or nay, surprisingly lots of people said yay. So, I might wear it more often.

Anyways, let’s get on the tutorial! Product list is all the way to the end.

asian smokey eyes

Eyelids were prepped using Urban Decay Primer Potion. My face were prepped using MUFE HD Elixir. All eyeshadows are by Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette unless state otherwise.

How-to:

1. I applied Salted Caramel on my crease using a fluffy blending brush.

2. On my eyelid, I applied Gilded Ganache using a shader brush.

3. Using the same fluffy brush as no. 1, I blended the edge where Gilded Ganache and Salted Caramel met.

4. Using the tip of a flat eyeshadow brush, I applied Gilded Ganache on the outer half of the lower lash line, and Creme Brulee on the inner corner.

5. I created a winged liner along the upper lash line using Kanebo Kate Super Sharp Liner.

6. On the waterline, I applied L’oreal Voluminous Smoldering eyeliner stopping just before the inner third.

7. Using an angled eyeliner brush, I applied MAC Carbon on the outer half of the lower lash line.

8. I curled my lashes and applied Maybelline Express VolumeTurbo Boost mascara on my lashes. I also applied Gwiyomi Annabelle lashes to add some drama.

9. I filled in my brows using Shu Uemura Brow Pencil.

10. On my face, I applied Giorgio Armani Maestro foundation using my fingers. For concealers, I applied MAC Pro Long-wear under my eyes and on my blemishes.

11. I applied Benefit Coralista on my cheeks.

12a. For the lips, I applied MAC Please Me lipstick and L’oreal Pink Resistance Color Riche Carresse.

12b. For the darker lip color, I applied MUFE Aqua lip pencil in 12c.

ps: My photos is somehow a bit more yellow than I expected (on my screen). The lip colors are not as peachy (for the lighter lips), and it’s slightly more plum for the darker lips.

Christmas Makeup Tutorial

Are you guys ready for the Holiday season?! For those of you who are celebrating Christmas, I hope you’ll enjoy this Christmas Makeup tutorial! This is a makeup collaboration with fellow Indonesian Beauty Bloggers – Feegy from Muses Wonderland, Chell from Polish Wonderland, and myself (not from any wonderland *wink* hahaha). So, don’t forget to check their tutorial out!

We collaborated in creating a Christmas look with a little bit of glitter ya’know, because it’s Christmas! We need glitters, hon! Sparkles everywhere! Feegy created a silver glitter smoky eyes, and Chell went on the nude glitter eyes. For me, I went all out with green, gold and glitters! Hey, it’s Christmas, I might as well make full use of all the Christmas colors!

makeup collaboration

For my look, even though it’s pretty bold and colorful, it is still wearable if you aren’t afraid of colors. The placement of the colors are quite important so you don’t go looking all crazy, you get what I’m saying? Instead of green, gold and glitter everywhere, I focused these 3 products on specific location on my eyes. This way, the colors work well together, and you don’t look like a glittery mess.

The green is located on the center of the eyelids only so that when you blink, that gorgeous color will pop along with a teensy bit of crushed metallic pigment. You can use glitter if you don’t have the crushed pigment. The gold glitter is on the inner half of the lower lid, this will brighten and open up your eyes.

The key is to apply the bright color and glitter lightly. Notice I used my finger to apply the green shade, I also use my finger just to press the crushed pigment very lightly all over my lid. This way, the colors and glitters aren’t all over the place. By combining bright colors with neutrals, your whole look will be pulled together.

My eyelids are prepped using Urban Decay Primer Potion.

How-to:

1. I applied Urban Decay Buck eyeshadow above my crease, as my transition color, using a crease blending brush.

2. Using Smashbox bullet crease brush, I applied Kat Von D Shadow Box (Monarch palette) on the outer and inner V of the eyes.

3. I applied MUFE Aqua Cream no. 52 on the center of my eyelid using my ring finger.

4. Using the same ring finger, I VERY lightly tapped MAC Metallic Crushed Pigment in Moss Garden all over my lid. I just want a little bit of the crushed metallic pigment for shine, not for the color.

5. I lined my upper lash line using Kat Von D Trooper eyeliner. On the waterline, I applied MAC Smolder kohl eyeliner.

6. On the lower lash line, I applied PAC eyeliner liquid in Bazaar Gold on the inner half. On the outer half, I applied Kat Von D Deadhead eyeshadow (Monarch palette) using a smudger brush.

7. Using the same smudger brush as step no. 5, I applied whatever was left on that brush on the outer and inner V of my eyes (on top of Shadow Box), just to add a bit of depth.

8. I applied Gwiyomi Annabelle lashes for extra drama.

9. I filled my brows using Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Taupe and Brunette.

10. On my face, I applied Diorskin Star foundation using Real Technique foundation brush.

11. I also applied MAC Pro Long-Wear concealer under my eyes, and any areas I need to cover.

12. I set my face using CoverFX Translucent powder.

13. I applied Smashbox bronzing powder from the contour kit to warm my face up slightly. Then, I applied Chanel Blush de Horizon on my cheeks.

14. On my lips, I lined and filled it with MAC Brick lip pencil. Then, I applied OCC Vintage lip tar on top of it.

Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Cotton Fit

I’ve done a review on the Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Cotton Fit before, and if you remembered I disliked the product. However, you know how sometimes one product just doesn’t work and then you picked it up couple months (or a year) later, and for some reason you change your mind?

The Etude House Indonesia Precious Mineral BB Cream Cotton Fit is one of those products for me. I didn’t like it last year, but this year it was different. I was so ready to not like it, but for some reason, I do end up liking it.

I think the reason why I might have ended up liking it because I applied it with my new Real Technique foundation brush. Also might be because my skin is slightly in a more “normal” condition nowadays (thanks GlamGlow!). In addition, I am not as tanned as last year since I haven’t been going to the beach as much, so I’m slightly lighter this time around, which makes the shade somewhat workable this time. I don’t look as ghastly as last year when I applied it.

Korean BB Cream

So, let’s get on the review!

What is Etude House BB Cream Cotton Fit?

This all-day pearly bright skin BB Cream perfectly glides onto skin providing clear and bright complexion with a smooth, cotton-like powdery finish for flawless skin.

Nihon Mart, 2014

Packaging

It comes in a very nice tube with a pump, which I think is great! The tube is flexible, so you don’t have to worry about it breaking when you travel (unlike glass containers), and the pump helps to dispense the product. Pump lightly, otherwise you might get too much product on your hand.

Shade

I’m not sure how many shades it comes with. From the website, there’s 2 – n02 and w13. However, mine is W24 which is also called Honey Beige, so I guess there’s 3 shades? Not sure, don’t quote me on this.

The range of the shade is very limited, it’s of no surprise. Korean brands generally only comes in 1 shade, so for this BB cream to come in 3 shades is already an achievement in itself. This shade W24 is not a perfect match. It’s a good match, but slightly too beige for my skin tone. I buffed it pretty well into my skin though, and if I apply my MAC powder on top it looks fine.

If you’re darker than NC27, this brand of BB cream won’t match you. It’ll be too light and might end up ashy on your skin.

Etude House BB Cream

Finish

They claim that it has a pearly bright skin finish. I somewhat agree to this claim. It does have a very nice sheen to it. My skin looks pretty good, no? I’m not sure if it is “pearly”, but it has a semi-dewy finish. It’s not too dewy, but it’s not matte either. It’s not a natural finish though, in real life it looks slightly shinier than in picture.

Apparently this is a BB cream for oily skin, however, if you have super oily skin, you might want to powder this really well since it’s “pearly” finish might make you look slightly oilier. Dry skin people might want to stay away from this BB cream. It will cling to your skin and dry patches. I think this BB Cream is pretty good for those with combination skin.

Coverage

Medium coverage. If you want a light coverage, please do go light handed on it. Use very little product since it is quite pigmented.

Etude House BB cream cotton fit

Pros

  • It contains SPF 30

  • Great packaging

  • Nice pearly finish

  • Has a nice scent (similar to baby powder)

  • Doesn’t feel heavy if applied properly

  • Medium coverage

Etude House BB cream cotton fit

Cons

  • Limited range of shades and undertone – one might end up too pale and/or too ashy

  • Needs to be set with powder, if not it tends to move around

Classic Red Lips Makeup

Hello, everyone! How are you guys doing? I am back! Super busy at work, haven’t have the time to take a breather yet. Anyways, I’ve been trying to post 2 tutorials/review up every week, so since this Classic Red Lips makeup would be the first one for this week, hopefully I can squeeze another tutorial (perhaps a Halloween tutorial), or a product review by Sunday. I do have a few products lined up to be reviewed, and also a few more Halloween looks before the 31st.

Anyways, for this tutorial, I actually wore this look out for my friend’s wedding on Sunday. I’m sure you’ve seen what I wore with this makeup over on Instagram! Anyways, I used mostly newly bought products – The Balm Meet Matt(e) Nudes & Mary-Lou highlighter, Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette (smells heavenly), along with Shu Uemura Calligraphy Ink eyeliner & Shu Uemura Dear Matte Rouge Unlimited Diva Red lipstick.

If you are of an Asian descent and looking for the perfect red lipstick, you might want to check out Shu Uemura Dear Matte Rouge Unlimited lipstick in Diva Red. It’s a really pretty red lipstick with a warm (orange) undertone, which will compliments nicely the yellow undertone in our skin. If you prefer a cooler (blue) undertone red lipstick, check out MAC Russian Red.

Anyways, let’s get on the tutorial!

How-to:

1. I prepped my eyelid using Urban Decay Primer Potion. Then, I applied Matt Singh from The Balm Meet Matt(e) Nude palette on my crease blending it upwards towards the brow bone.

2. I layered in Matt Rossen, again from The Balm Meet Matt(e) Nude palette, on top of Matt Singh. This time, I focused most of the color on the outer part of the crease, blending the color inwards.

3. To add an extra depth, I applied Matt Wood right on the crease. The color was concentrated on the outer part of the crease, and blended inwards.

4. I applied MAC Carbon just on the outer V of the eyelid.

5. Using a flat eyeshadow brush, I applied Marzipan from Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eye palette on my eyelid.

6. I lightly applied MAC Carbon on my lower lash line and blended it out using a pencil brush.

7. I lined my waterline using L’oreal Voluminous Smoldering eyeliner, and applied a thick winged liner using Shu Uemura Calligraphy Ink eyeliner.

8. I filled my brows using Anastasia Brow Wiz in Taupe.

9. I applied Lavie Lash false eyelashes in Bluebell.

Thick winged eyeliner

10. On my face, I applied MUFE HD Foundation.

11. I also applied MUFE HD concealer under my eyes.

12. I set my base using Cover FX translucent powder.

13. I very lightly applied The Balm Mary Lou highlighter on the bridge of my nose, cupid’s bow and cheek bones.

14. I lightly contoured my face using Smashbox Contour Kit – sides of my nose, temples, jawline and hollows of the cheeks.

15. For the cheeks, I applied Smashbox Halo blush in In Bloom.

16. On my lips, I applied Shu Uemura Dear Matte Rouge Unlimited lipstick in Diva Red straight from the tube. I did this because I was pressed for time, and I have the lipstick on my clutch for the night, so I can easily touch it up. However, if you want a long lasting lipstick with very little need to touch up, please check out my How-to apply Red lipstick tutorial!

Halloween #2 Jack-O-Lantern Makeup

Are you ready for Halloween?! I sure am! So, for the second installment of my Halloween series, I decided to do a Jack-O-Lantern makeup tutorial. WHY you ask? Well, that’s because Jack-O-Lantern aka pumpkin carving is very popular in Canada during Halloween month. My sister and I actually love carving pumpkins! We love the scary face ones!

JUST FYI – I am accepting Halloween makeup jobs! If you need a makeup artist to do your scary makeup, I’m available! Contact me through email jilly@kireimakeup.com, or line – KireiMakeup!

Anyways, for this tutorial, you need:

1. Orange face paint (water or cream) – I mixed red and yellow cream face paint to create the orange base. I used a local Indonesian brand called PAC.

2. Black water based face paint – you can use cream too if you prefer cream product, or even an eyeliner.  I used Snazaroo.

3. Eyeshadow – matte black, matte orange, matte yellow for highlight and contour.

4. Brushes – I used mostly synthetic artist brushes.

  • For large area, I used an angled brush (similar to MAC 263 but slightly bigger).
  • For details like the lines and contouring, I used the Rigger type (similar to MAC 209, but with longer bristles)
  • For highlight I used a blending brush, like MAC 217

5. Contacts (optional) – you don’t have to use contacts, or you can use a brighter one than mine. I could only find this honey colored ones from Fresh Kon, since it’s pretty hard to find specialty contact lenses here in Jakarta.

halloween tutorial

How-to:

1. I applied an orange cream-based face paint all over my face using a wedged sponge. Lightly stippled it all over my face, neck, and ears for an even coverage.

2. I outlined where I want the mouth, nose, eyes, wrinkles to be using black water-based face paint.

halloween makeup tutorial

3. I filled in the areas on step no. 2 with black face paint.

4. Then, using an eyeliner brush and a matte black eyeshadow, I lightly create lines all over the face to create the crease of the pumpkin. I also created some cracks near the mouth area.

pumpkin king makeup tutorial

5. Using a small blending brush, I blend out the edges of the lines. I also carefully added some shading on the areas where I want it to look like it’s receding.

6. On top of those black shadows, I applied a matte Orange eyeshadow (I used the orange from Sleek Makeup Ultra Mattes V1 palette).

7. In the area where I want it to pop out a bit more (to mimick the shape of pumpkin), I applied a matte Yellow eyeshadow (from Sleek makeup Ultra Mattes v1 palette) with a blending brush. I put it in the middle of the “squares” on my forehead, above the eyebrows, on my cheeks area. I really want to make these areas to poof out a bit more.

creepy jack-o-lantern face paint

Voila! You are done! Looks pretty cool in black and white, but looking more like a scary clown. I love how the orange/yellow contour/highlight really helps with the whole pumpkin look!

My First Kiehl’s Indonesia Haul

How is everyone doing???? I apologize for missing last week! I had to do a business trip to Medan for work. I posted some photos on Instagram from my trip, and also my skin condition. Anyways, as mentioned couple weeks a go, I went to Kiehl’s Indonesia Grand Opening at Emporium Pluit Mall. After the grand opening, I decided to go to the store couple days later to grab some stuff, mainly for my hair. So here’s what I bought at Kiehl’s! I don’t know if you can call this a haul since I didn’t buy much.

So, I went to the store with one thing in mind, and that’s to get products for my hair! Ever since 4 years a go, I have been having allergic reaction towards non-natural/organic shampoos and conditioners. I used to be able to use pantene, dove, or tre semme without any issues, but ever since 4 years a go, I’ve noticed itchy scalps, red tiny bumps, and significant hair loss when I continued using those non-organic or non-natural brands. The one brand that I somehow managed to continue using is actually L’oreal.

With those issues in mind, I was searching high and low for a somewhat more natural shampoos in Jakarta, and I decided to give Kiehl’s a try. I have used their Amino Acids shampoo way back when I was in Canada, and was happy with the result. However, the closest Kiehl’s from my place was 1-hr away, so I stopped using it. You can imagine how thrilled I was when Kiehl’s opened a store right around the corner from my house, just a 15min. drive from home and ta-daaaah it’s right there!

All I bought was a Magic Elixir, a Thickening Shampoo, and a Recovery Pak hair mask. As you might know, I have been coloring and bleaching my hair since beginning of the year, so I really want to take a good care of my hair again. I decided I need those 3 products to reset my hair.

Kiehl's Magic Elixir

I’ve only started using these products for 1.5 weeks now, so I can’t really say what the results are, that’s why I didn’t put the title as review. First of all, I think I absolutely love the Magic Elixir! I ran out of Morrocan Oil, and can’t find one in Jakarta. So this Magic Elixir is a good alternative! I’ve only been using it every 2-3days for 5mins since it says to wash it off after applying it on the scalp. Next time, I’m going to try leaving it for a few hours. I noticed almost immediately after the wash, my scalp and my hair feel a lot lighter. It doesn’t leave any oily residue or cause your hair to be greasy. It washes off very easily!

Of course you can always mix your own oils, DIY hair masks are plenty on Pinterest, even I pinned them! But, I just find getting the Magic Elixir is a lot faster and simpler than making one your own. Less hassle for this career woman (hehehe)..Not to mention, I won’t be messing around and having to clean up. Just one bottle and everything is good!

The Magic Elixir costs Rp. 410,000 (125ml) in Jakarta, while it’s only CA$24 in Canada. It drives me crazy how beauty/skincare/cosmetic products are so much more expensive in Jakarta. That’s almost double of what I paid for in Canada. Anyways, I’ll rant some other time..may be I’ll rant on twitter instead…

Kiehl's Ultimate Thickening Shampoo

The Ultimate Thickening Shampoo is perfect for me since I have fine hair, and not much of it. I’m very conscious of my hair loss ever since 4 years a go. Seriously guys, I was so stressed out, I thought I was going bald *cries*. I think this shampoo works really well with the Magic Elixir since the combination of both products will promote hair growth and healthier scalp.

The shampoo lathers easily and you don’t need to use much. I think this shampoo doesn’t have that “clean” feel as strong as other brands since it’s more natural, however, you feel absolutely refreshed when you’re drying your hair. My hair feels stronger after a few wash (I wash my hair everyday – no, don’t tell me not to do it). I also felt that this shampoo gives my hair a bit more volume after the wash.

The Ultimate Thickening Shampoo costs Rp. 260,000 in Jakarta, CA$25.50 in Canada. So, not much difference in price for this product. I was happy to know that the price was similar.

Kiehl's Sunflower Color Preserving Deep Recovery Pak

Last but not least, one of the best purchase in my whole life is this Kiehl’s Sunflower Color Preserving Deep Recovery Pak! Quite a mouthful, but SO WORTH IT! This is the best smelling product I’ve ever encountered. The smell is DIVINE. I will buy this just because it smells soooo goood!

Listen to me guys, like seriously!!! I deep conditioned my hair, dry it off, styled it, left my room. Came back 4 hours later and my room smells like my hair! My hair smells so awesome for the whole day, until the next morning. I mean, come on! You have to try this hair mask if you have colored your hair. Even if you don’t color your hair, I still think this hair mask will work too. Seriously, it smells like a fruit heaven. I can’t really put my finger in it, but it smells like a mixture of apricot, passion fruit and mango. Absolutely DIVINE!

This hair mask doesn’t weigh your hair down, it makes the hair feels so smooth and silky afterwards. My hair color looks shinier too, and did I mention it smells great?! Awesome product!

This hair mask costs Rp. 420,000 in Jakarta, and CA$35 in Canada.

Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase, and willing to fork out the money to buy these high quality natural products. My hair feels great and smells peachy! Love it!

MAC Viva Glam 1 Look #1

My friend, Elfa, and I went to Tex Saverio Trunk Show last week (photos on instagram). I did Elfa’s makeup, she wanted smoky eyes with red lips, and I actually loved how she looked. So, today I decided to recreate the makeup she wore, but twist it to suit me. I also wanted to use my the Original Viva Glam lipstick (MAC Viva Glam 1), so that look was perfect!

For the eyes, I decided to use my Sleek Makeup iDivine Storm palette since I wanted to do a warmer, coppery smoky eyes. I really seem to like a warmer, redder shades lately. Anyways, if you’re in Southeast Asia and want to purchase Sleek Makeup, you can do so with Luxola. Since this palette doesn’t have the names of each eyeshadow, I decided to number them for this post.

Kat Von D Monarch Palette Tutorial #2

I kept forgetting how amazing this palette is, so I decided to remind myself and created this Monarch palette tutorial. Like I said on my first tutorial using this palette, the eyeshadows are unbelievably smooth and so easily blended. Love it! I promise I’ll do swatches and review for this palette. If you have the chance to grab it, you should really consider it.

Anyways, I’m quite busy this week, as well as the whole September due to work. I think I’ll try to post twice a week, hopefully more. If you do follow me on Instagram, I’ll do micro-blogging from there. Also, don’t forget to comment here or on my twitter/instagram on what you’d like to see more. I know I still have to do a few requests, and I’ll try to get on it ASAP. What a busy month!

Ok, let’s get the tutorial started! I just want to mention that for some reason my camera picks up Wrath really orange this time round. Not sure why, I did reverted back to my glamcor lights, so that might be the cause. Trust me, it doesn’t look that orange in real life. It’s a very pretty warm reddish-brown, almost like a brick color.

warm brown smoky eyes

I prepped my eyelids using Urban Decay Primer Potion.

How-to:

1. Using a fluffy blending brush, I applied Wrath on the outer V and just above the crease.

2. Using a clean blending brush, I blended out the crease.

3. I applied Shadow Box on the outer V, inner V, and crease of my eyelid using a bullet crease brush.

4. Using a flat eyeshadow brush, I applied MAC Tan loose pigment on the center of my eyelid.

5. I applied Urban Decay Jilted eyeshadow (from the electric palette) along my lower lash line using an angled eyeliner brush, then I applied Urban on top of it using a pencil brush.

6. I lined my waterline using L’oreal Voluminous Smoldering eyeliner.

7. I also created a winged liner using Kanebo Kate Super Sharp eyeliner.

8. I filled my brows using Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Ash.

9. I applied MUFE Aqua Smoky lash mascara on top and bottom lashes. Also applied Lavie Lash falsies in Snowdrop.

10. On my face, I applied Diorskin Star foundation using a foundation brush.

11. I also applied MUFE HD concealer under my eyes.

12. I wanted an extra glow on my skin, so I applied Smashbox Halo Highlighting wand. I applied this highlighter on the high points of my face – cheekbones, bridge of the nose, cupid’s bow, chin, forehead.

13. I lightly dust Cover FX translucent powder to set everything.

14. I applied contour very lightly on my face using Smashbox Contour Kit (they’re selling it again for a limited quantity on their website!).

15. On my lips, I applied MAC Spice lip liner all over, and then applied Clinique Heaping Hazelnut chubby lip stick.

Shu Uemura Brave Beauty Competition

Hello everyone!!! Sorry I haven’t been updating my blog this week. I was busy since I entered Shu Uemura Brave Beauty Competition. So, if you haven’t been following me on Instagram (you should, btw..what are you waiting for? Go check out my Instagram to get the latest update!), I’d just do a quick recap of what happened. Last month, I was browsing on Instagram, and saw Shu Uemura Indonesia was organizing a makeup competition. I actually didn’t want to join for many reasons, but first and foremost because I’ve a case of stage fright. N, my sister, and Franky (fellow blogger) kept encouraging me to do it, since I’ve nothing to lose anyways. This was my first makeup competition!

So, I submitted my face chart, portfolio and went on my merry ways. I actually didn’t even remember I entered the competition. Couple days after Eid, I received an email and a call notifying that I was one of the top 10 finalists for Shu Uemura Brave Beauty competition. Fast forward couple days later, I had to attend a briefing for the competition (Monday, Aug. 11), and the competition itself was on the following day (Tuesday, Aug. 12). The other 9 finalists were nice and friendly. They’ve entered makeup competition prior to this one. So, really, I was the only one with no prior experience. Oh well, there’s always a first time for everything right?!

Shu Uemura Brave Beauty top 10 finalists

Makeup station at backstage

Photo above is my makeup station back stage. We were given 2.5hr to do the models’ complexion (skincare, base, foundation), hair, nails, and wardrobe. Nails were provided by Feliz Nail Art, and wardrobe was provided by Tex Saverio. My model is Juanita Haryadi and she’s amazing!

For the competition, we are not allowed to bring our own makeup products, except for our makeup brushes and lashes. All makeup and skincare products are given by Shu Uemura. So this competition was interesting since I don’t actually owned any Shu Uemura eyeshadows. I entered this competition without having any knowledge on how the eyeshadows going to blend and such. On the briefing day, we were given times to know the products and play with the colors. However, swatching and looking at colors are quite different from actually using it on the eyelid. Not to mention, there was no eyeshadow primer at all from Shu. That was quite a concern amongst the finalists.

Shu Uemura Brave Beauty top 10 finalists

Standing (L-R) – Suzi, Vony, Catherine, Irwan, Mirtha (Grand Prize Winner), Stephanie (Best Makeup Show winner). Sitting (L-R) – Shanti, myself, Sari

I, personally, was happy to actually join the competition. I am not a competitive person to begin with, and as I’ve mentioned before I’ve a case of a stage fright. I was like super nervous about this competition. I’ve never entered a competition before, so this was my first experience. I’m glad I did it because I managed to meet amazing makeup artists, and became friends with them. They are a bunch of great people, and we talked, shared and laughed together. We had tons of fun, and no one was mean to anyone. It was wonderful!

Also, we get to meet the legendary Kakuyasu Uchiide (Shu Uemura International Artistic Director), as well as internationally acclaimed Fashion designer Tex Saverio. Why is Tex Saverio there? That’s because Tex Saverio collaborates with Shu Uemura! 2 legendary people, and I was in between! Mr. Uchiide was like “oh come, you should stand in the middle”..OMG I ALMOST DIED!

I’ve met Rae Morris, now I’ve met Kakuyasu Uchiide! Dreams do come true! Master makeup artists! They are so friendly, humble, down-to-earth, and passionate about their work.

Shu Uemura Brave Beauty

Mr. Uchiide’s interpretation of Brave Beauty on the models

So, we were given 30 minutes ONLY to finish up our eye, lips and cheeks makeup. I barely had enough time to complete the look. My hands were shaking throughout the entire time. I think at one point I wasn’t even sure what I was doing. I was too nervous! Stage fright I tell ya! Anyways, 30 minutes was up and that was it!

The winners were announced – Stephanie won 2nd place (best makeup show), and Mirtha won 1st place (grand prize). I didn’t feel much disappointment. I thought they deserved to win since their makeup results were quite elaborate. I knew I wasn’t going to win because I think I have a different interpretation of what Brave Beauty was.

Anyways! I was very happy I entered this competition. I’ve made new friends, I gained experience, and I’ve definitely learn to manage my stage fright. I’ve met great people, and for me it was more than enough! I didn’t even expect to be in the top 10, so that in itself was already quite amazing!

So, I’d like to say thank you to everyone who have cheered and supported me throughout the whole time!

Pink Smokey Eyes Tutorial with UD Naked 3

If you guys followed my Instagram account, you’d have known that last night I was doing a tutorial, yes? Anyways, today’s look is a Pink Smokey Eyes tutorial using Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. Yes, again! Naked 3 again! I know you guys might have gotten bored with Naked 3, but I have not. I loved this palette and wanted to make use of this palette as much as I can. If you want to check out my other Naked 3 tutorials, please take a look at Urban Decay Naked 3, and UD Naked 3.

I created this look since I wanted a more girly take on the smoky eyes. At the same time, I wanted a darker, more glam, and sultrier looking smoky eyes using the Naked 3 palette. Check out my review on the naked 3 palette.

I would like to mention that I absolutely love how my skin looks like in this tutorial. I, for some reason, love how MAC Pro Longwear foundation photographs. It makes my skin looks absolutely flawless, at the same time it doesn’t feel heavy at all. I really should give this foundation more compliment. I’ll try to do a review of this foundation next time.

How-to:

1. My eyelids are primed using Maybelline Inked in Pink cream eyeshadow.

2. Using a flat eyeshadow brush, I applied Blackheart on the outer third of the eyelid, extending it slightly on to my crease.

3. Using a small fluffy blending brush, I applied Nooner on my crease to blend Blackheart out.

4.  I applied Buzz on the eyelid using a flat eyeshadow brush.

5. To add extra sparkles, I applied Dust using a small eyeshadow brush on the inner corner, and in the middle of my eyelid.

6. I created a winged liner along my upper lash line using Kanebo Kate Super Sharp eyeliner, and lined my waterline using L’oreal Voluminous Smoldering eyeliner.

7. I also applied Blackheart along the lower lash line, and Buzz on the inner third of the lower lash line.

8. I curled my lashes and applied Buxom Lash mascara. I, then, applied Lavie Lash Bluebell falsies.

9. I filled my brows using Anastasia Brow Wiz in Brunette.

10. I applied MAC Pro Longwear foundation all over my face using MAC Masterclass brush Oval 6.

11. I lightly contoured and highlight my face using Motives Fire sculpting palette.

12. On my cheeks, I applied Maybelline Master Glaze in Make A Mauve.

13. I set everything using CoverFX Translucent powder.

14. I filled my lips using MAC Whirl lip liner. Next, I applied Revlon Just Bitten Kissable lip balm in Honey Douce just in the center of my lips. I blended the 2 shades together by pursing my lips.
